Canterbury Bid

Timeline

Canterbury BID Board Director nominations are open from 19 to 31 October 2020. Each nomination must be supported and signed by a Seconder: This is a named representative of another levy paying business/organisation, that also meets the eligibility criteria on levy payment, from within the Canterbury BID area.

Nominees must complete the Nomination Form and either email it to enquiries@canterburybid.co.uk or send it to Canterbury BID, Second Floor, 20-22 Watling St, Canterbury CT1 2UA.

Nominations for the BID Board are now closed and a full list can be found here. The Board elections have been postponed due to Covid restrictions and we will let you know as soon as we have a new date, early in the new year.

No Election
If the exact number or fewer nominations are received, then those qualifying nominees will be appointed to the Board, no election will be held and the result will be announced on 3 November on the Canterbury BID website.

Election
If more nominations are received than Board places available, an election will be held and each levy paying business will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidates/s in those categories that are open for Ballot (e.g. if total nominations exceed 15, nominations for those sector places with more than the allocated places will be subject to an election only).

If required, an election will be held on 9 November (in Canterbury, location tbc), from 8.30am – 6.30pm and will be administered by the BID Executive Team. A full list of candidates will be made available on the Canterbury BID website to help you decide who to vote for from 3 November.

In order to confirm eligibility to vote in the election, each voter must either provide a letter of appointment on company headed paper or a current (2019/20) Business Rates Notice for the levy paying organisation they represent.

Each levy paying business will have a single voting paper to complete; no account will be taken of the number of hereditaments held within the BID area by any single organisation in this election e.g. a business with three hereditaments has the same vote as an organisation with one hereditament.

The results of the election, if held, will be posted on the Canterbury BID website on 10 November.
