Canterbury BID wants to keep money circulating in the local economy, so we’re delighted to run the The Canterbury Gift Card which has ringfences over £150,000 for the city since its inception. With over 130 local businesses signed up to the scheme, this is fast becoming the gift of choice for locals.

This project is running very successfully in 45 towns and cities across the UK. The cards make brilliant birthday and Christmas presents, corporate rewards and even prizes, as well as supporting local businesses.
We promote them to residents, those who work in or visit Canterbury regularly and also to student families – they make a great ‘Welcome to Canterbury’ gift.
Where can the card be purchased?
Shoppers can pick up a blank gift card card for FREE at The Beaney Visitor Centre (High St), Wrapped (Burgate) and Hampton by Hilton Hotel (St Margaret St) and load at home with their preferred amount.
Gift Cards can also be purchased online at canterburygiftcard.co.uk. and the new Night Out Gift Card can be purchased here. Online purchases are then posted via Royal Mail to the purchaser or recipient (as preferred).
What does The Canterbury Gift Card do?
The card is purchased by the gift-giver, with a pre-loaded amount to spend (this can be however much they wish to give). The recipient can then spend the card in their choice participating businesses in Canterbury. These businesses will be signed up to the scheme and able to receive payment via the Gift Card.
How does my business sign up?
The Canterbury Gift Card can be accepted by independents and nationals alike as it’s a Mastercard programme. You only need to register once and you can be allocated to both the Canterbury Gift Card and the Night Out Gift Card.

My business already has its own gift card…
This card is not designed to replace existing merchant voucher schemes, but to complement the offering. The Canterbury card canonly be spent in the city, but at a wide variety of businesses.
Does it cost me anything to sign up ?
For Canterbury BID members, there is no additional charge for businesses to be involved with the Gift Card programme. The only cost to the merchant is the usual cost of accepting a Mastercard payment.
