The government are providing support grants to help businesses affected by the lockdowns and tier restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Canterbury City Council is managing the grant application process locally.
Restart Grants have been created to support non-essential retail, hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses in England. This funding is a one-off grant scheme available from 1 April 2021, and will replace the Local Restriction Support Grants (LRSG).
For non-essential retail business premises that will be reopening from 12 April, a grant of up to £6,000 will be available.
For hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym business premises, that will be opening later under plans set out in the roadmap, the following support will be available:
- £8,000 for businesses with a rateable value of up to and exactly £15,000
- £12,000 for businesses with a rateable value over £15,000 to under £51,000
- £18,000 for businesses with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 or greater
Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) Update
Local councils will be receiving further ARG funding to support businesses that are not covered by other grant schemes or where additional funding is needed. This money won’t be distributed until after 1 April 2021.
Canterbury City Council will update the grants page on the website as soon as there is further information HERE.
