It’s Autumn time when we welcome new students to the University and our annual harvest begins. On the day, help us gather the hops at the Christ Church hop garden, followed by a free self-guided tour of St. Augustine’s Abbey before walking to the Foundry, in Canterbury town centre, for a free beer where you will hear about how these fine plants are helped to reach their ultimate potential! Hop picking starts from 9.30am, followed by the visit to St. Augustine’s Abbey at 11.00am and the Foundry at 12.30pm. Places limited. Annual Heritage Lecture: The Future of Canterbury’s World Heritage Sites, Neil McCullum, Head of Historic Properties, Kent Canterbury has been a World Heritage site since 1988 but has it made the most of this important status? This talk will touch upon the challenges of bringing partners back round the table to find the common ground. The Kent Green Hop Beer Fortnight is your chance to taste newly released beers made from just-harvested hops produced by over 30 of Kent’s finest brewers.
