Canterbury Bid

Canterbury supporting Ukraine

A photo of Marlowe Theatre at night

We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine 🇺🇦 and we know many of the businesses of Canterbury will wish to show support in acknowledgement of the humanitarian crisis.

We have already seen the Marlowe lit blue and yellow, the Ukranian flag will soon be flying on the Westgate Towers, Canterbury Cathedral tolled its St Dunstan bell (1 minute for each day of the war) as part of a Europe-wide Cathedral initiative, and many of our businesses are either displaying posters or creating themed windows.

For information on how to help those affected in and from the Ukraine we recommend visiting the following website with a comprehensive list of donation options:

Ukrainian Institute London

If you would like to link up with a local drop off centre to donate items, the best source is Facebook as options are changing daily.

Businesses across the city have been displaying their #StandWithUkraine

If you would like to join them, a poster is available to download here:

There are other visual ways to show your support.

Perhaps display the Ukranian flower – The Sunflower.
This photo was taken of the window display at Fitzgerald Jewellers.

Alternativley a blue and yellow themed window would convey the same message.
