New Discretionary Grant Fund – Delay in Guidance

MESSAGE FROM CANTERBURY CITY COUNCIL:

“We have been receiving a number of queries this week regarding the government’s new discretionary grant fund to support businesses, which was announced last weekend. This is a scheme that we will administer, and we were expecting guidance notes to arrive from the government this week to help us put it all together.

Unfortunately, we heard late yesterday (Wednesday 6 May) that the government will not now provide this guidance until an unspecified date next week (w/c 11 May).

Although this is disappointing, we had begun preparations based on the limited information we already have. This work will continue, so that when the guidance does arrive, we will at least be ready to get straight into it. All indications so far are that this will be a more complex grant fund to deliver than the existing business support schemes, but we need to see the detail first.

We know there is plenty of interest in this. Please bear with us. Updates will follow on our social media pages and website when we have them.”
