Emergency Support Fund for City Centre Events

The vibrancy created by events in city centres sits hand in hand with increased footfall. The impact of COVID-19 on our local cultural industries has been huge and Canterbury’s thriving event scene is suffering as a consequence.

Following the Government’s announcement that certain events can now resume (adhering to safety guidelines), Canterbury BID has put together an emergency support package to reactivate city centre events over the summer. If you have an event taking place between now and the end of September 2020, Canterbury BID is offering a support package between £500-£1000, but hurry – applications must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday 22 July.

We will be looking for events that:

  • benefit the strong cultural branding of the city
  • increase visitor numbers, dwell time and spend
  • assist in creating a superb destination for our residents and visitors
  • strictly follow government guidelines for public safety
