Canterbury Bid

Christmas Window Competition 2024 Results!

Canterbury certainly has the wow factor this Christmas!

Every year, we invite a panel of creative experts and give them the task of marking each Christmas window entrant on their originality, merchandising and festiveness. It proved a very tricky task as there were so many excellent designs to choose from.

Thank you to everyone who entered, we really appreciate all your amazing efforts. Every single decorated window helps make our city one of the most beautiful Christmas destinations in the South East and beyond.

CHARITY:
Pilgrims Store 50 (St Peter’s St): This window is playful, and fun, with a brilliant theme (Nightmare before Christmas) – a flamboyant, fantastic window with a wow factor!

HEALTH & BEAUTY:
Steven James Hairdressing (Castle St): Stunning use of white penmanship, creating beautiful images of Canterbury’s landmarks inside baubles, matched inside with glass, glowing baubles.

HOSPITALITY:
Tiny Tim’s Tearoom (St Margaret’s St): Looks like it has come straight from a Dickensian novel with big bold decorations alongside tempting displays in each of the windows, framed by frosting highlighting the cosy and inviting interior.

LARGE RETAIL:
BoConcept (Orange St): The hygge of the window display along with the lovely Danish buildings gives a subtle nod to the company’s Scandinavian roots but the fun sign posting shows the company’s pride in its Canterbury location.

SMALL RETAIL:
Whirligig Toys (Sun St): Enchanting display, creating a dream childhood Christmas. Lots of tiny details, hand-crafted displays and a nativity made of Plus-Plus, mean people will keep visiting and finding more to see.

JEWELLERY:
Canterbury Jewellers & Pawnbrokers (St Peter’s St): Another display that takes the traditional window designs to another level with great attention to detail and story-telling while enticing visitors in.

DEPARTMENT STORE:
Fenwick (Whitefriars): The judges loved the 12-themed story telling of the windows and the red sparkle that is used inside and across the displays and marketing. Excellent merchandising with gift ideas for everybody.
