The Board

Your New BID Board – October 2017

When the BID started three years ago following the successful Ballot in July 2014, it was led by a ‘shadow’ Board, made up principally of local business people giving of their own time, which had overseen the development of the Proposal and ballot campaign.

In early 2015, all of these people put themselves forward by nominating themselves as permanent Board Members and have now served their first 30 month term, overseeing how the BID uses levy payers money effectively, appropriately, sensibly and transparently. Having completed their first term, all of these 13 positions were open for any qualifying levy payer to self-nominate. Nomination Packs were hand delivered the week of 4th September 2017 to every levy paying business across the BID area by the Ambassadors and the nomination process was open from 25th September, closing on 6th October at 5pm.

We received a total of 18 nominations for the 13 available places on the BID Board, which meant that a ballot was held on Monday 16th October from 8am to 6:30pm in the ABode Hotel. We are really pleased that we have so many levy payers interested and willing to serve on the BID Board. While we only have thirteen places available on the Board, we will make sure that we continue to work with anyone who is not successful on this occasion to involve them in the work of the BID and to give them every opportunity to contribute as we move forward.

60 votes were cast and we were delighted with the involvement of so many city centre businesses in this process.
