Royal Golf Open – get prepared!

The eyes of the country and the world will be fixed firmly on Kent from 11-18 July 2021 as the 149th Golf Open takes place at the Royal St. George’s Golf Course in Sandwich. The event is participating in the government’s Event Research Program which means up to 32,000 spectators could attend the championship days from 14-18 July.

Here are a few quick tips to help with your preparations.

Prepare you staff for travel disruptions
From 13-18 July, Southeastern’s high speed train service is going to be running to a different timetable. In addition from 14-18 July there will be mandatory bookingof tickets on certain Southeastern high speed morning services. Click HERE for more info. Bus services will also be impacted in particular the No.43 from Canterbury to Sandwich. Encourage Advance Bookings
Canterbury’s hospitality sector is already operating a limited capacity due to COVID restrictions. From 14-18 July we would recommend that you encourage visitors to pre-book their tables for meals and drinks out, to avoid disappointment on the night. Perhaps send your guests a copy of the digital Summer Guide to help plan their visit?
