Tell us a little bit about Camomile Rooms…
Camomile Rooms is an independent beauty salon, established in 1990, located in Canterbury City centre. It has expanded to now employ 6 Beauty Therapists and doubled its treatment space.
The salon offers a wide range of treatments including waxing, nail treatments, massage, eyelash treatments and a selection of facials for all skin conditions.
We have also recently been awarded a Silver for Customer Excellence, a Bronze for Beauty Salon and Maxine received Bronze for Beauty Therapist of the Year, in the Kent Hair and Beauty Awards.
Why did you choose Canterbury to open your salon?
I opened the salon with my mother in 1990. On her retirement, I expanded the business and changed the focus from slimming treatments to beauty. Subsequently, a long-standing employee Alex, became a partner in the salon. We chose Canterbury to situate our salon as it has always been a vibrant, multi-national city with a large, diverse population.
What are you looking forward to most after lockdown?
We are enthusiastic to get back to work, not only to offer our treatments, but to catch up with our clients. Coming to the salon is as much about mental health as the beauty treatment. Clients can talk in a safe space and for some clients at the moment, it is the only physical contact they have.
How will you keep your customers safe on their return?
We will continue to offer our treatments in a Covid-secure environment. Our staff wear the statutory PPE of visors and face masks, treatment rooms are sanitised thoroughly between clients and tools sterilised.
What has kept you busy over lockdown?
During Lockdown 1, we researched and invested in our own salon-branded skincare range. We launched in August and it has proved amazingly popular with great results. It is cruelty-free, natural ingredients and vegan friendly.
How can customers support you right now?
We are currently offering a Personalised Skincare service, where we will prescribe 4 products from our range for your skin concerns for just £49. All the client has to do is answer a brief skincare consultation form and our skincare specialists will select the correct products for you.
