Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)

Parking sign

Over the next four years, Canterbury City Council are proposing to make major changes to transform transport and parking in the district.

This includes modernising our car parks using the latest technology to make parking easier and more convenient. Through the use of barriers and cameras, Canterbury City Council are proposing to trial a system known as Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR).

From February 2016, ANPR will run for six months at Pound Lane, Canterbury.

If the scheme is successful, the Council will then roll it out across all major car parks in the district.

What will these changes mean for you?

  • Ticketless parking – no more pay and display.
  • Stay for as long as you like and pay for what you use – no time limitations or restrictions.
  • A quick and easy way to park and pay.
